Black Sands of Maui

Aloha everyone!

My time here in the Hawaiian islands has finally come to an end and it's been a pleasure as always. Unfortunately, during my stay on Maui, high winds prevented me from doing the zip-lining and snorkeling I signed up for, but that's okay. Next time. My family and I did a road trip instead, from West Maui to East Maui. Along highway to Hana, we stopped by the Garden of Eden in Koolau Rain Forest Reserve (pictures coming soon) and visited Wai'anapanapa State Park, home to the beautiful black sand beaches.

      When I stand on these beaches of Hawaii, I still find myself in awe. It's amazing to think about how these beautiful islands are here for us to see & enjoy. Who knew that something so violent & disruptive as a volcano, could make something so beautiful?

      And to think, how long it must have taken for all of that lava to erupt from beneath to ocean floor, the plate tectonics to move & create those mounts, and for a single seed to begin the introduction of vegetation to these volcanic islands. It took hundreds and thousands of years to create something this beautiful!

     All in all though, I would say that this second trip to Hawaii was a success. We got to experienced everything we liked about Oahu & Maui, that we liked last time, and everything else was a new experience!

      Of course, I can't wait until the next time I can visit the Hawaiian islands again. There's so much more I want to experience and do, like learning to surf, paddle boarding, snorkeling with sea turtles, finding the red sand beaches in Maui, and hiking through the Bamboo Forest. I think before I my next trip though, I'll work on becoming scuba certified first.
