Big Four Ice Caves

Headed to the Big Four Ice Caves yesterday. It's something I've been wanting to see for quite some time. Since it was a "hike" of only 2.2 miles, 220 ft. elevation gain, and with Winter break in full swing, I thought, what a better time than to do my first Winter hike!

While researching how to photograph ice caves the night before (without killing myself), I learning about "bracketing." It's essentially capturing several different manual exposures of the same photo, using a tripod, and combining them in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for a perfectly exposed HDR like photo. I've never used either of those programs before, but I it was definitely the perfect opportunity to take on the challenge and learn how to use them, since snow tends to throw off your exposures. I'm pretty happy with how the photos turned out. - JEN

P.S. There were/are signs all over the trail, warning hikers to not enter the caves, at the danger of collapse. Since I adhered to the warnings, here are some beautiful photos from some brave photographers than ventured in the ice caves.
